Dr. Parks was very communicative about what to expect. a great listener, and provided me the space I needed to open up initially. I am looking forward to my next session with her.
My first session was such a positive experience! She was warm and approachable, taking the time to explain the therapy process in a way that made me feel at ease. I felt truly seen and heard, which isn’t something I take lightly.
This was my first time seeing a therapist and I was beyond nervous and anxious about it. Immediately I was met with a smile and understanding he was kind listened offered a plan gave goals played music I cried but I also cracked up he’s hilarious I can’t wait until I next session
I had an amazing experience with Danisha. From the moment we started our session, she created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. She was open and non-judgmental, which made me feel comfortable sharing my thoughts and feelings.
We were nervous for our first consult via telehealth and after the first 3 minutes into it, I knew we touched home. My teenage son needed them. I needed them. And Charles became more than a professional or a friend to us, he became family.

FAQs
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse varius enim in eros elementum tristique.
1. How do I get started with therapy at Envisage Counseling?
Getting started is simple. You can call us at 217.766.0258, email us at office@envisagecounseling.com, or complete the contact form on our website. You can also book directly by using the “Request Appointment” tab to self-schedule with a therapist. Our team will guide you through the next steps and help connect you with the best fit
2. Do you offer consultations before scheduling?
Yes, we offer complimentary 15-minute consultations, typically held virtually. This is a space to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and explore whether Envisage feels like a good fit for you or your family. In-person consultations may be requested when available.
3. Do you provide therapy for children, teens, and families?
Yes, we provide therapy for children (starting at age 3), adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Our therapists have a variety of specialties and work with a wide range of needs, allowing us to thoughtfully match each client with the right clinician.
4. Do you offer in-person and virtual (telehealth) sessions?
Yes, we offer both in-person sessions at our office and virtual sessions (telehealth). We currently provide virtual therapy to clients across Illinois and Texas, making services more accessible and flexible for your schedule.
5. How do I choose the right therapist / know if it’s a good fit?
Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. We help guide you by considering your needs, preferences, and what you’re hoping to work on. You can also review therapist bios on our website to learn more about each clinician’s specialties and approach.
During your consultation and early sessions, we continue assessing fit. If at any point you feel a different therapist may be a better match, we fully support that—your comfort and connection matter most.
6. What can I expect during the first therapy session?
Your first session is focused on getting to know you and identifying your needs. Your therapist will ask questions about your experiences, concerns, and goals, while also giving you space to share what brought you to therapy. Together, you’ll begin building a plan that supports your growth, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
7. How often will we meet?
Session frequency depends on your needs, goals, and availability. Many clients start with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum, then adjust over time as progress is made. We will collaborate with you to find a schedule that feels supportive and realistic.
8. How long will I be in therapy?
The length of time in therapy varies for each person. Some clients come for short-term support around a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper growth and healing. This is a collaborative process that evolves based on your goals and needs.
9. What issues do you commonly help with?
We support individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and behavioral or emotional concerns in children and teens. Many clients also come to therapy for personal growth, self-awareness, and support navigating life changes.
10. How is confidentiality handled, especially for minors?
Confidentiality is an important part of the therapeutic process. For minors, parents or legal guardians typically have access to treatment information. However, for youth—especially those age 12 and older—we work to balance parental involvement with the child’s need for privacy to build trust in therapy.
We encourage open communication and partnership with parents, while also creating space for youth to share honestly. If there are any safety concerns, we will always communicate those with caregivers in alignment with legal and ethical guidelines.
11. How do I decide between in-person and telehealth sessions?
Both options are effective. In-person sessions may feel more personal for some, while telehealth offers added convenience and flexibility. We can help you decide what works best based on your comfort level, schedule, transportation, and clinical needs.
12. How much does therapy cost? Will I know my fees ahead of time?
We understand that cost is an important factor. Before your first session, our billing team verifies your insurance benefits (if applicable) and provides a clear breakdown of expected costs, including copays or out-of-pocket fees. We want you to feel informed and confident with no surprises.
13. Do you accept insurance or offer payment options?
We accept a variety of insurance plans and also offer self-pay options. For those who may need additional support, we offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments based on need and availability. Our team will help you explore the best option for your situation.
14. What is your cancellation and no-show policy?
We ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. We understand that emergencies happen, and we encourage you to contact our office as soon as possible in those situations.
We offer one complimentary late cancellation or no-show, and after that, applicable fees may apply.
15. Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes, we offer appointments Monday through Friday until 8:00 PM, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Some therapists may have additional availability. We aim to provide flexible options that work for you and your family.
16. What if I need to switch therapists?
If you feel that your current therapist is not the best fit, please let our office know. We will work with you to find a better match. Finding the right connection is important, and it’s completely okay to make a change.
17. What happens between sessions? Will I have things to work on?
Between sessions, you may have opportunities to practice skills or reflect on topics discussed in therapy. Any tasks or strategies are collaboratively identified and are designed to support your goals and growth outside of session.
18. What if I’m nervous or unsure about starting therapy?
That’s completely normal. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and we’re here to support you through it. Our goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel safe to be yourself. You don’t have to have everything figured out—just showing up is a powerful first step.
19. What if I am in crisis or need immediate help?
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or need immediate support, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Envisage Counseling is not a crisis service, but we are here to support you with ongoing care and encourage you to reach out for immediate help when needed.
